A little village in Hertfordshire, England.

UpHome
North Mymms Youth and Community Centre
Based in the village, a community provision for all, run entirely voluntarily as a registered charity by villagers, for villagers.
Current activities include Ju Jitsu and Tai Chi classes, senior citizens and an over 50's club, plus a daily nursery. Of course its major advantage is that it is a hall for hire, 10% discount to those who live in the parish. Also venue for the North Mymms Horticultural Societies tri-annual shows.

Also, villagers may wonder why there is no youth club at the 'Youth' and Community Centre. Simply that there is no one prepared to put themselves out once a week for about 2 hours to run it! Despite appeals via the schools, Welwyn Hatfield Times and parents (& BP web page), the junior club (Club 2000), 8-12 year olds closed in February 2001, having had attendances of over 40 youngsters.

Good news though, after nearly 2 years, Herts County Council who ran a youth club at the Centre re-opened on 23rd April for young people 11 to 19. But to ensure that survives it also needs support of the community. Young people, (despite what some people say in the village) are part of that community and need their support too.
